Virat Kohli Becomes First Batsman In IPL History To Achieve This Milestone; Twitter Instantly Reacts!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsDuring the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Abu Dhabi, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) performed really well after having registered three back-to-back failures in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
Among most of the players in the team, RCB skipper, Virat Kohli, made headlines after he scored a brilliant 72 not-out [off 53 balls] to guide his side to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals.
With the BIG Win and score, Virat Kohli added another feather to his cap as he became the first-ever batsman to score 5500+ runs in the history of the Indian Premier League [IPL].
In 2019, Kohli had become the second batsman after Suresh Raina. Today, the RCB skipper had grabbed that milestone in mere 157 innings. During the match, Kohli stitched a 99-run-stand with the young Devdutt Padikkal, who once again impressed with his solid stroke play and brilliant composure.
"Very important two points. The kind of game we had last time, it’s very important to back that up. It was warm, but coming from Dubai, this felt better because of the breeze. It’s a funny game, an amazing game and I was telling Jos that I love this game and hate it too; it’s something you need to understand [bad form] but when the team’s doing well, you get more time to apply yourself. This tournament can get away from you very quickly,” Virat Kohli said in the post-match conference.
"When you start losing initially, the games start going quickly and suddenly you realise 8 games are gone and you don’t have points. We need to keep up the momentum. There wasn’t much to reveal [to Devdutt] and I told Simon this guy’s got serious talent – reach, and a great eye. And a left-hander, very clean shots You hardly feel he’s taking risks, you get that feeling rarely at this level. Today he carried from 40 to 65 odd, so he’s a smart guy and he understands the game well,” he concluded.
In the start of the tournament, Virat began with a 14-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad although his team had gone on to win the game. After that, when against Kings XI Punjab, he was out for a five-ball one as RCB suffered a crushing 97-run defeat.

What a game man @imVkohli Classic! Consistent! We've seen almost all players when they crossed half-century drained up, but this man is different. Saying hey haters, am back:) pic.twitter.com/4bNBhAzHo7

What a game for RCB, what a game for Virat Kohli. We've seen almost everyone drained up whoever crossed a fifty this season, but Virat Kohli is different gravity. He completed 3 runs even when the RR was way below 6, unreal fitness from Kohli.
