Skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat first in the 2nd ODI against West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval, yesterday. Shikar Dhawan who has given a comeback after world cup injury is struggling to get into form and was dismissed by Sheldon Cottrell in the very first over.
Pairing up with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli exhibited an aggressive performance which eventually led to the much needed ton. The duo registered a 50-run partnership before Rohit was sent back to pavilion by off-spinner Roston Chase for 18 runs. However, they have surpassed legendary cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag by becoming the second most 50-rum partnership by an Indian pair in the ODI’s.
“Feels good to get a hundred when the team wanted me to get one. Shikar and Rohit did not get a big one. One of the top three has always got the big one. A senior man had to step up and today was my opportunity to step up,” Kohli was quoted as saying after the match by Hindustan Times.
