WATCH! On-Field Umpire Gives Out To Smriti Mandhana, TV Umpire Comes To Her Rescue
Home > News Shots > Sports newsIn the ongoing first Twenty20 International (T20I) between Indian women's cricket team and England, Indian opener Smriti Mandhana was saved by a TV umpire during the match in Canberra.
The incident happened in the second over when Smriti Mandhana hit the ball to the wicketkeeper. Amy Ellen Jones, who caught the ball but accidentally rolled over on the field. The ball which was not in full control of the wicketkeeper, fell out of the left glove.
After this, the on-field umpire gave Smriti Mandhana out but the TV umpire overturned the decision and got her back to the match.
ICC took to social media and shared the video with a caption saying, "Smriti Mandhana was given out but the decision was later overturned. India are 22/0 after two overs and need 126 more to win.#ENGvIND"
Highlighting about the match, Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and asked England to bat first. India got off to a flying start scoring 22 runs in the first two overs.
Meanwhile, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur remained unbeaten on 42 and finished the game with a six off Katherine Brunt in the last over to help India register a five-wicket win.
Smriti Mandhana was given out but the decision was later overturned.
