Coach says net run rate for teams should be deducted !!!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsOff late we have been seeing IPL matches go up to 4 hours and this has been a concern from the viewer's point of view. The super over between the Delhi Capitals and the Kolkata Knight Riders took 30 minutes.
Already we have seen Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane fined Rs 12 Lakh for slow over rate. However, a lot of people feel that these fines will not help and there has to be other solutions.
Michael Vaughan, former England Captain suggested The 100, which is a format with 100 balls per team is a possible solution. Tom Moody, coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad suggested that instead of fines, the net run rate of teams should be deducted as they do in the Caribbean Premier League. This really sounds like a valuable solution since players really know the importance of the net run rate and hence will try their best to get the overs done on time.
Simple solution, forget monetary fines, deduct from teams net run rate. Works in the @CPL, players quickly recognise the value of NRR when it comes to qualifying for playoffs!
