Video: Steve Smith Survives Hit Wicket After Confusion Gets Cleared During Match
Home > News Shots > Sports newsDuring a Big Bash League (BBL) match between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars, the game came to a halt after Steve Smith faced and escaped a bizarre dismissal in Melbourne.
The unusual dismissal took place in the eighth over when Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf bowled to Steve Smith a bouncer. In that bid, the bails had come off and the Melbourne Stars Team started celebrating the wicket.
Looking at their celebration, the on-field umpires were unsure of what had happened. Then the matter was referred to the third umpire. On replays it showed that the bails had come off because of the wind while Steve Smith had made no contact with the stumps.
After which Smith was called back and gave him another chance. But sadly, he did not make too much of an impact as he could add only 19 more runs. Smith, was eventually dismissed for 24.
The BBL took to their social media handle and shared the video of the whole incident, saying: "Hit wicket? Don't think so! The wind has just had a go at getting Steve Smith out!" Watch the video below:
