CWC2019: This cricketer visited Team India in London despite being on crutches
Home > News Shots > Sports newsAfter team India lost its first warm-up match against New Zealand on Saturday by 6 wickets, they got a small surprise which lightened their mood during the weekend. As fast bowler Shardul Thakur paid a visit to the Indian players in their team hotel in London before they left for Cardiff on Sunday.
According to India Today reports, Shardul Thakur went to England after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 during which he got injured on his right foot. He consulted his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni and also spoke to Rohit Sharma about his injury who then advised him to get a surgery done in London.
But despite being on crutches, Shardul made sure to meet his India teammates as they left for Cardiff for their next warm-up match against Bangladesh on May 28. He also wished the team good luck and was there to support his teammates despite being on crutches.
"Before we left for Cardiff, we had @imShard with us for a while. Join us in wishing this speedster a speedy recovery," BCCI posted on social media along with a picture of Shardul Thakur on crutches.
India lost its first warm-up match against New Zealand after they skittled India out for 179 in the 40th over at The Oval with only all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja's 54 saving the tournament favourites from an embarrassingly lower total. Ross Taylor then top scored with 71 as the 2015 finalists coasted to 180-4 in 38 overs.
