Serena Williams pays the price for US Open final violations
Home > Sports news Serena Williams has been fined a total of Rs 12 lakh for her three code violations during the US Open final against Naomi Osaka on Saturday. She earned $10,000 for “verbal abuse” of chair umpire Carlos Ramos by the tournament referee’s office on Sunday. Additionally, she was fined $4,000 for being warned for coaching and $3,000 for breaking her racquet.
Though it was Naomi Osaka's day considering that she was the first Japanese to win a Grand Slam, her sheen has been removed a little thanks to Serena's outburst, which has earned a fair share of critics and supporters.
