BCCI announced the squad for the upcoming West Indies series on November 21 which did not include Sanju Samson apart from Dhoni and Ashwin. Samson's exclusion gained notable criticisms from the fans who expressed their disappointment in various ways. Meanwhile, the recent report from BCCI is that Sanju Samson has been included  in the upcoming T20 series against West Indies.

Reportedly, Shikar Dhawan had to suffer left knee injury during the Syed Ali Mushtaq Trophy and only the medical report can certify his fitness to play in the West Indies series. "Samson might be included in the squad as a replacement of Dhawan. Dhawan got operated on his knee, depending upon his medical  status report, the final call will be taken," TOI quoted one BCCI source few hours ago. As per the recent report from BCCI, Shikar Dhawan has been officially ruled out of the T20 squad and Sanju Samson comes in as the replacement. 

Though Samson was included in the T20 Squad of Bangladesh series, he was not given an opportunity in the playing XI. Instead, Rishabh Pant was selected in the team. The wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson scored 112 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy from 4 matches. India is set to play 3 T20I and 3 ODI against West Indies in December 2019. The  BCCI listed the new squad for 3 T20Is after the inclusion of Sanju Samson.
