Rishabh Pant breaks Dhoni's Record!!!Is Rishabh Pant winning the race?
Home > News Shots > Sports newsRishabh Pant was born in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, first made his mark during the Under-19 world cup in 2016. Opening the batting, the flamboyance and aggression he showed were signs of what was going to come. His performance in the Under-19 world cup got him a deal with the Delhi Daredevils, now called Delhi Capitals, and has now become the most valued member of the team.
He continued his good form with aggression in the Ranji Scene as well, where he piled on 972 runs at an average of 81.00 and a strike rate of 107.28. This included a score of 308 runs in an innings becoming the third-youngest Indian to score a triple century in first-class cricket. Since then he has constantly been on the rise in every platform making his debut for the Indian team as well. He hasn't managed to create a major impact in the limited overs format yet for India but has managed to cement his spot in the test team as the wicket-keeper batsman. He has scored two centuries, one in England and other in Australia which has already become an achievement.
With the worlcup coming up, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant are being considered as the backup wicketkeeper option. Rishabh Pant had a trial series against Australia, but things didn't go according to plan for him. There was plenty of criticism about his missed opportunities behind the stumps and a lot of comparisons to MS Dhoni as well which is unfair to him.
He will be looking at IPL 2019 to put aside those criticisms and has just made a perfect start against the Mumbai Indias, where he scored 78 runs off just 27 deliveries, managing to break Dhoni's record of scoring the fastest 50 against the Mumbai Indians. He will be looking at continuing this momentum throughout the tournament and win the race to the worldcup squad.
