Video: Rishabh Pant Gets Run-Out After Horrible Mix-Up With Ajinkya Rahane
Home > News Shots > Sports newsDuring the first Test against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve, Team India batsmen Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant got into a horrible mix-up and ended in an unexpected run-out.
The incident happened in the 4th over when Rahane dropped the ball near Ajaz Patel and decided to go for a single. Patel, who was slow to reach the ball, looked hesitated to go on the other end.
After seeing Rahane running towards him, Pant then decided to run to the striker’s end. Patel, tried his best but had to walk back to the pavilion for 19 runs.
Meanwhile, commentator Sanjay Manjrekar said, "Pant was trying to see where was the ball, which caused him the hesitation." To which his fellow commentator Scott Styris added; ”You have to trust your partner. The disappointing bit of Pant not trusting Rahane.”
“If he had trusted his partner and just run, he would have made it. Ajaz is not the quickest of fielders. But he wanted to have a second look. His vision was blocked by the bowler. Rahane is someone you can trust at the other end,” Manjrekar finally added.
Talking about the match, India could only score 165 in their first innings after Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson picked up four wickets each. Meanwhile, watch below Rishabh Pant left fuming after a terrible mix-up with Ajinkya Rahane that lead to his run-out:
