Is Prithvi Shaw the next Sachin???
Home > News Shots > Sports newsPrithvi Shaw, born on 9 November 1999 in Thane, Maharashtra has always been identified as a talented batsman.
He first came into limelight when he led the Indian Under-19 team in the world cup to victory in 2018, and then was bought in the auction by the now called Delhi Capitals for 1.2 crores.
He has always been one to create an impression early on making the best use of his opportunities. He scored a 100 in the second innings for his First Class debut making him a permanent member of the team. He has piled on the runs at a very good strike rate as well, which led to him making his Test debut in the home series against the WestIndies in October 2018. He made a great impression on his debut scoring a 100 in the first innings and will not look to cement his spot with more such performances.
Playing his debut season in the IPL last year, he did put up a few good performances scoring 254 runs in 9 matches at a strike rate of 153.12. This year he has made a great start scoring a magnificent 99 in the 3rd game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. He will be looking at utilizing the opportunity he has got at the top of the order to put up consistent performances and push for a spot in the limited overs side as well which is also a format he can excel at.
There have been a lot of comparisons made between him and Sachin Tendulkar based on his batting style, and will be great for India if he is able to replicate his performances as well for India.
