Asia Cup: Will India Play Against Pakistan at a Neutral Venue?
Home > News Shots > Sports newsEarlier, there were reports stating that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan had said that in case India don’t play Pakistan in the Asia Cup to be hosted in Pakistan this year, Pakistan won’t travel to India for the T20 World Cup to be held in 2021.
However, Khan refuted the same and said that since it’s an International Cricket Council tournament, there is no provision for Pakistan to pull out unless there is a Visa issue, considering the present political climate between the two countries.
He also said it’s possible for the Indian team to play Pakistan at a neutral venue as far as the Asia Cup is considered, subject to sanctions and approvals from the Asian Cricket Council.
"The question is what if India doesn't tour Pakistan? My response is the ACC then needs to make a decision but since we have been awarded hosting rights, we fully expect the Asia Cup to happen in Pakistan. The ACC will then need to make a decision as to where they will play the India games," Khan told PTI.
