Watch VIDEO: Fast Bowler Navdeep Saini is Charged by ICC for his behaviour
Home > News Shots > Sports newsTeam India has been playing against West Indies in the Carribean and the men in blue conveniently won the 3 T20 series by 2-0. While the 3rd T20 is scheduled on August 6 (Thursday), Navdeep Saini, the young fast bowler of India has been caught by ICC for violating code of conduct and has been issued a warning by the international cricket council.
The 26-year-old fast bowler from Haryana dismissed West Indies wicket-keeper batsman Nicolas Pooran in the 1st T20 match and he waved at the batsman with aggressive action. Unfortunately, his celebration did not go well with the on-field umpires Nigel Duguid and Gregory Braithwaite along with third umpire Leslie Reifer and fourth official Patrick Gus. Therefore, all of them have filed charges against Navdeep Saini for his aggressive behaviour.
It was found that Navdeep Saini breached Article 2.5 of the ICC’s code of conduct which deals with “actions and gestures that might provoke an aggressive reaction by the batsmen after they have been dismissed”. Reportedly Navdeep Saini accepted his mistake and agreed to the sanctions proposed by the match referee, Jeff Crowe without the need to have a formal hearing.
Since it is the Level One offence, it was stated that Navdeep Saini was given with only warning and handed a single demerit point. Earlier, BCCI imposed a ban on India’s Prithvi Shaw till November 15 after he failed the dope test. Navdeep Saini’s action could be seen in the recent video released by BCCI (Duration: 0.49 sec). However, the video was released appreciating Navdeep Saini after he won the man of the match.
