Most embarrassing thing I've done: Joe Root on bat drop

England Test captain Joe Root has regretted his bat drop which marked his century and hitting of the winning runs in the third ODI against India at Headingley on Wednesday. Root said, “It was something that I immediately regretted. I've not heard the end of it, it was literally the most embarrassing thing I've done on a cricket field.”

At Headingley, Root celebrated his century by dropping his bat – the bat drop, mimicking the 'mic drop' popularised by rappers and comedians. The video of the incident went viral on social media before drawing flak from the cricketer’s teammates.

Reports suggested that Indian skipper Virat Kohli and his players will no doubt use what could be seen as provocation by Root.
