Australian Cricketer Will Miss Final ODI Against SA, Excited to Watch Wife Play Against India
Home > News Shots > Sports newsAustralian paceman Mitchell Starc is all set to leave the final One-Day International (ODI) against South Africa as he is excited to watch his wife, Alyssa Healy at the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup Final.
Starc, will miss the Qantas Tour of South Africa in Potchefstroom, which is the last game of the series.
According to a Hindustan Times report, Healy, is a member of the women’s Australia squad that has been qualified for the final with wicketkeeper-batswoman Healy, a key part of their team. They will lock horns with India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on March 8 (Sunday).
When coach Justin Langer was questioned about Starc’s sudden absence, he said “It is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for Mitch to watch Alyssa in a home World Cup final. So we were happy to allow him to return home to support his wife and be part of a fantastic occasion.”
“We have plenty of fast bowling options with us here in South Africa with Josh Hazlewood, Jhye Richardson and Kane Richardson all sitting out our previous match in Bloemfontein,” he further added.
