Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock got off to a good start on the slow and low Delhi pitch. They put up 57 runs together at almost 10 runs per over. Rohit Sharma then fell to a very good delivery from Amit Mishra. Apart from Ben Cutting who got promoted to number 3, all the other batsman made small contributions. The most important one was from the Pandya Brothers where Krunal finished with an unbeaten 37 from 26 balls and Hardik played a high impact innings of 32 from just 15 balls. This blitz took Mumbai Indians to a good score of 168 on the tough pitch.
Coming out to bat, Dhawan had the right approach as she went after the bowling straight away. He played a quick innings in the powerplay as he fell for 35 from just 22 balls laying a good platform for the Capitals. Unfortunately, the other batsmen were not able to capitalize on this start as all of them struggled to get going on that pitch. Rahul Chahar quickly broke the backbone of the Delhi Capitals getting Shaw, Dhawan, and Iyer out. The Delhi Capitals could not really get going after that as the Mumbai Indians bowlers were right on target.
Mumbai Indians, in the end, won comfortably by a margin of 40 runs. The Delhi Capitals would look at the end end of their bowling innings where they leaked 64 runs in the last 5 overs. They could have also played Lamichanne on this pitch which could have turned it around for them. The Mumbai Indians will be happy with their all-round performance in this game away from home.
