Afghan bowler Rashid Khan has witnessed a meteoric rise in the past two years due to excellent skills with the ball. The 19-year-old further shot to fame for his consistent performance in bowling, fielding and occasionally batting as well in the recently concluded season 11 of Indian Premier League. Khan finished the tournament with 21 wickets only behind Kings XI Punjab’s Andrew Tye (24 wickets).

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar called him the best T20 bowler at the moment in the world after his all-round performance against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Qualifier 2. The young cricketer said that the whole of Afghanistan seemed to have seen Sachin’s praise and were surprised that the maestro had such high praise for him.

Cricket is witnessing a significant growth in Afghanistan and Rashid Khan’s rise played a major role in its growth. When questioned if he enjoys the same status in Afghanistan as his Indian counterparts, Khan reportedly said, “As far as I know, after the President of the country, maybe, I am the person who is most popular in Afghanistan.”
