The shocking incident took place in the 104th over when Danny Lamb and George Balderson were holding the fort for their team. During that over, Klein hit Danny Lamb on the foot when he threw the ball at the stumps.

As per an NDTV sports report, Umpires Nick Cook and Rob White said that fast bowler Dieter Klein has committed a Level 2 offence under Law 42, Players' Conduct, that means "throwing the ball at a player… in an inappropriate or dangerous manner".

In the video, the 31-year-old bowler can be seen picking up the ball and instantly throwing it right towards the batsman in the hope of hitting the stumps, but it hit Lamb's leg. He could be seen suffering the unexpected blow, as he hobbled away in pain.

Lamb immediately dropped his bat, and hobbled towards square leg. After the video went viral, the incident created quite a lot of furore on social media with many slamming Klein.

Many even said that he deserved "a far greater punishment".  One user wrote: "Dieter Klein should be ashamed of his actions. Completely out of line and deserves a far greater punishment". While another said: "Deserves more than a 5 run penalty imo. This is shocking."

Looking back at the match, Lancashire were bowled out for 322 with Klein being the pick of the bowlers, returning with figures of 3/81. Watch the video below:
