Chris Gayle Fined For 'On-Field Anger' During Match Against Rajasthan Royals | Watch Video  

Post the match between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), 'The Boss' Chris Gayle has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct.

Chris Gayle was splendid with the willow and was in full display last night when he romped his way to a 63-ball 99 against the Royals. Initially, he walked out on the field to partner captain KL Rahul (46) after Mandeep Singh got out at (0). 

As wickets kept falling at the other end, Gayle carried the baton for Punjab and powered his team to a 185-run total.

After being dismissed for 99 for the second time in IPL, Gayle was visibly upset and frustrated. He was looking to kick the ground with his bat but lost control as the willow flew to midwicket, in what looked like an unintentional outburst.

A day after the match, the IPL officials did not specify the exact incident for why he was penalised but it is understood that the Jamaican was punished for throwing his bat away in disgust after getting out for 99. Later, Gayle also admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction. 

"Chris Gayle, the Kings XI Punjab batsman, has been fined 10 percent of his match-fee for breaching the Dream11 Indian Premier League's (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team's match against Rajasthan Royals at Abu Dhabi," the IPL said in a statement.

"Mr Gayle admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," the statement added.

Gayle smashed eight sixes and six fours during the match to become the first player to score 1,000 maximums in T20 cricket. Sadly, Gayle's effort went in vain as the Royals secured a seven-wicket victory.
