KXIP Wear Black Armbands in Match Against SRH; Twitter Showers RESPECT!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsIn the 43th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the KL Rahul-led team were spotted wearing black armbands during the game.
The reason for it is heartbreaking as team member Mandeep Singh, lost his father Hardev Singh last night (Friday) after a prolonged illness.
So, Kings XI Punjab which is led by KL Rahul, made an excellent gesture of wearing black armbands to honour their teammate’s late father.
Despite the big tragedy, Mandeep Singh is playing for Kings XI Punjab and was also seen as opener against Hyderabad. Singh played for a brief innings and scored 17 off 14 balls before being dismissed by Rashid Khan in the fifth over of the match.
After the reason went viral on social media, fans and the cricket fraternity expressed their condolences to Singh. Many even commended him for turning up for the game hours after losing his father.
Looking into IPL board, Kings XI Punjab are currently on a three-match winning streak as they have handled their rapidly faltering campaign beautifully. One more win will boost the chances of making it to the knockouts.
Meanwhile check out few of the reactions below:
