Rohit Sharma's Decision cost them the game???
Home > News Shots > Sports newsWinning the toss, Ashwin decided to put Mumbai Indians to bat first.
The Mumbai Indians got off to a very good start with Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock going after the bowling. Rohit Sharma was given out LBW to Viljoen in the 6th over for 32 runs of 18 balls, which if reviewed would have turned out to be not out. Quinton De Kock continued on as batsman around him didn't really get going. He got out in the 13th over after scoring 60 runs from 39 balls. The scoring rate slowed down following that with Yuvraj Singh and Pollard at the crease, but late flourish from Hardik Pandya took them to 176 runs in the 20 overs. Murugan Ashwin, Shami, and Viljoen picked up 2 wickets each while Tye got one.
In return, KL Rahul got off to a very cautious start with strikerate under 100 for the most part of the innings. Chris Gayle, on the other hand, went in his usual style scoring 40 runs off 24 balls before he got out. Once Gayle fell in the 8th over, Mayank Agarwal came in and took it upon himself to accelerate the scoring rate, getting 43 off just 21 balls. KL Rahul then picked up his scoring rate ending up not out in the end for 71 runs off 57 balls, along with Miller to win the game.
The Mumbai Indians didn't get enough runs on the board and the bowling failed to keep them in the fight. Rohit Sharma's decision to not take the review when he was judged LBW could be viewed as a turning point in the game as he is the kind of player who could have got them to a big score.
