KXIP Decides the future of Ashwin for IPL 2020!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsEver since the Indian Premier League (IPL) was launched, KXIP hasn't tasted a trophy win. In 2014, the team stepped into finals but was knocked out by KKR. With auction for the next edition on line, the franchise is keen on roping in some fresh talents.
Meanwhile, KXIP co-owner Ness Wadia has cleared the air on skipper Ravichandran Ashwin's transfer to a new franchise. “We have seen what impact Ashwin has in the Indian team. He is an exceptional player and is not only an asset for the Indian team, but also for Kings XI Punjab. He is an integral part of the team and he will continue to remain so. You know the value Ashwin brings to the team. There is no question of letting him go,” Wadia was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
However, Wadia also made it clear that retaining Ashwin doesn't mean that he will be the captain. “Anil Kumble has just taken over and all the cricketing decisions will eventually be taken by him."
Anil Kumble was recently appointed as KXIP's head coach as Courtney Walsh (bowling coach), Jonty Rhodes (fielding coach), George Bailey (batting coach) and Sunil Joshi will assist him.
