Indian Captain Virat Kohli received a similar kind of response at Mumbai before leaving for the West Indies series.
Be it a defeat or victory, Indian fans show their extreme emotions towards their favourite players. Right after India’s elimination in the ICC World Cup 2019, the fans were extremely disappointed and we also saw fans posting videos expressing their emotions online. Many people began criticizing Team India including the captain Virat Kohli. But things seem to be changed for Virat ahead of the West Indies tour.
The Indian Captain was overwhelmed with tremendous love and support at an event in Mumbai before leaving for the West Indies series. The truly amazed Kohli took to his Instagram to share the video where thousands of fans welcome him with thundering applause. “Just before I left for the WI series, I had a surreal experience at the #Philips event in Mumbai. Thank you everyone for all the love and support, it was truly amazing,” Kohli described the event.
Though there were many speculations over the assessment of Team India’s performance in the World Cup, Virat stood firm with his composure and decided to play the West Indies series to bring back the team from World Cup loss.
Earlier, amidst the rumoured rift between Kohli and Rohit, Kohli broke the silence at the press conference and said, "We wouldn't have had the kind of performances we've had if the dressing room atmosphere wasn't a good one. The kind of performances we've had is only possible due to the camaraderie, trust and understanding in our team,". He also dismissed the negative speculations between him and Rohit.
