"Too close for Comfort" says Ashwin!!! Easy chase made into a thriller!!!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe Kings XI Punjab after winning the toss elected to field first.
They started off very well picking up the inform Bairstow very early. Warner and Vijay Shankar put up a good partnership of 49 runs but used up 54 deliveries. Once Vijay Shankar got out, Warner as well who was struggling tried to get going. Nabi was sent out as a pinch hitter but got out soon to Ashwin's smart piece of fielding. Pandey came him and tried to get going but Warner was key as he anchored the innings finishing off with an unbeaten but an uncharacteristic 70 of 62 balls. Hooda provided the much-needed impetus scoring 14 of the final 3 balls and took the team to 150 in the 20 overs. They would have felt that they were at least 10-15 runs short on this pitch.
In response, Gayle came out all guns blazing but Rashid Khan got him out for 16. KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal then combined for a brilliant 114 runs partnership. Mayank fell in the 18th over that got the SRH back into the game. Miller and Mandeep Singh getting out quickly and KL Rahul not taking risks meant that they had 11 runs to get of Nabi's last over. It did get very close, but KL Rahul just managed to get the team through.
SRH will look at their batting effort and would have liked a few more runs on the board considering the dew factor as well. The Kings XI Punjab, on the other hand, will be happy with the win but would like to finish games faster. They took it to the very end against CSK and lost the game. They ran into a similar situation towards the end and managed to win today. They would ideally like to time their chases better.
