The Sri Lanka opener later revealed that Pollard had apologized, post the match ending
Gunathilaka nudged the ball in his second over, went a few steps forward but decided not to go for the run. The ball stayed on the pitch and Pollard happened to chase it to get Gunathilaka run out. Pollard was seen appealing to the umpires for obstruction of the field. The third umpire ruled it as being out. After the match, Pollard decided to go up to Gunathilaka and apologise. The opener said that Pollard admitted that he didn’t see the video at that time and realised later only that the batsmen were not at fault. “He apologized. He told me he didn’t see that properly at that time, and only after he saw the video he realized I didn’t do anything,” Danushka Gunathilaka was quoted as saying.
