Though age is just a number for him, the 38-year old MS Dhoni has proved to be generous to leave a way for the youngsters. Without any hints, the 'Captain Cool' announced his retirement from Test cricket on December 30, 2014.

However, his stint in the shorter formats (ODI and T20I) of the game continued to entertain his fans until ICC World Cup 2019. While Dhoni remains off-the-field since ICC World Cup 2019 semi-finals defeat, legendary cricketer Kapil Dev had opened up on Dhoni's career.

"It's not just Dhoni who is playing the IPL. I am a person who looks for a young player who we can be proud of in the next 10 years. I think Dhoni has already done so much for the country," Kapil said during the fifth edition of HCL Grant event in Noida on Thursday as quoted by NDTV.

"As his fan, yes (would like to see him playing the T20 World Cup) but as a cricketer, I think it all depends on the management. He hasn't played for one year. He should play more matches to be in the team. There shouldn't be different parameters for different players. He is on his last leg. I am his fan so I would love to see him but in IPL I am looking for the next generation," added Kapil.

It has to be recalled that Dhoni was dropped from the list of BCCI's centrally contracted players announced in January 2020.

MSD will be seen leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) den from the opening match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 29 in IPL 2020.
