“One of the greats of...cricket” Indian Cricketer praises Star batsman’s RETIREMENT

The proteas player has been receiving wishes from fans around the world for his enormous contribution to the game of cricket. Even former cricketers AB Devillers, Shoaib Akthar and Irfan Pathan shared their wishes on their respective twitter handles.
Indian fast bowler and batsman, Irfan Pathan recalled his memory of playing with Hashim Amla in U-19 World Cup. “First time I played against @amlahash was in u-19 World Cup in New Zealand.showed the glimpse of his class by playing an outstanding inning against us,surely he finished his international career by being one of the greats of South African cricket.Happy #retirement brother #amla, ” (sic) wrote Pathan.

Amla bid goodbye to his 15-year-old cricketing career on August 8 (Thursday) after scoring an unbeaten 80 against Sri Lanka which led the Proteas to win by 9 wickets. He had a staggering career as a bastman in international cricket.
Hashim Amla has scored over 18,600 runs and has 55 centuries and 88 half-centuries to his credit. He was named the ‘South Africa Cricketer of the Year’ in 2010 for his remarkable job as captain to SA Test team that defeated Sri Lanka. Indeed, the victory was termed as a ‘rare test series’ win away home. Amla received the ‘Cricketer of the Year’ again in 2013.
In his retirement speech, Hashim Amla was quoted as saying, "Firstly, all Glory and thanks to the Almighty for granting me this Proteas journey which has been nothing but a joy and privilege.I learnt many lessons during this incredible ride, made many friends and most importantly shared in the love of a brotherhood called #proteafire.”
