IPL2020 Update : IPL Dates likely to be Postponed; New Dates and Other Details
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe Indian Premiere League which was scheduled between September 19 and November 8, is likely to see a postponement. The tournament’s finals might be extended from November 8 to 10 in order to help the broadcaster Star India to enhance the Diwali week.
The final decision regarding this postponement might be taken at the GC meeting scheduled this week. However, if this two-day delay is confirmed then the Indian team will be flying directly to Australia from UAE instead of returning to India.
TOI’s report suggests that this extension which will ensure that the IPL gets a 54 day window is on the table for discussion. Previously it was reported that Star India was unhappy with the IPL dates since the channel wanted to make the best use of the Diwali week.
“Even if the players are left without IPL matches, they will continue to remain in UAE and participate in a camp there. As soon as the IPL is over, the remaining players – busy playing the final knockout matches of the league – will join the rest and the entire team will fly together from there,” say those who are tracking the developments with regards to IPL scheduling.
However, the final official decision is likely to be made and announced by the end of this week.
