IPL2020 Schedule to be Out Today: Which are the Teams Playing the First Match? - Check Details

With the Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL) scheduled in two weeks’ time, the President of BCCI, Sourav Ganguly said that the thirteenth edition’s schedule will be released on Friday, September 4. The recent case of 13 CSK members testing positive for the infection was found to be the reason for the delay in releasing the final schedule.

Apart from those who tested positive, the coronavirus cases have been drastically increasing. This has also contributed to the delay in scheduling the matches and venues for this year. All the teams have already reached their venues, Dubai and Abu Dabi. Several practice sessions have been undertaken and the bio-bubble for the safety of the team members is being maintained.

Mumbai Indian’s had defeated CSK in IPL 2019, and snatched a record of winning the fourth year. Rohit Sharma’s team had won by 1 run. Hence the defending champions Mumabi Indians (MI) are expected to play the opening match against MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings team. This has however only been cited in reports including in that of Times Now. Official confirmation regarding the schedule is awaited.

CSK only received minimum time for practicing. However, the team had organised a five-day camo in Chennai before departing to the UAE. Further, the quarantine period for the team was extended after two players and 11 members of the franchise tested positive for the new novel coronavirus infection.
