IPL2020: Why Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders are Upset? Would BCCI intervene to Solve Issues? - Report
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe Indian Premier League is all set to begin on September 17 at UAE. All the teams have reached the venue and several teams have started their practice and training sessions as well. However, a couple of teams are facing constraints due to quarantine protocols.
Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders had reached Abu Dhabi. But both the teams are upset according to reports as Abu Dhabi has made it mandatory for the teams to complete 14 days in quarantine before moving outside. However, the other teams are staying in Dubai and are set to practice as Dubai only has a mandatory 7 days quarantine period.
A supporting staff of Mumbai Indians team said, “We have requested BCCI to intervene. We were told we have to follow 7 days quarantine period but now it has come to our knowledge that as per the local norms we will be in 14 days quarantine.”
The Kolkata Knight Riders team were the first to reach UAE, followed by Mumbai Indians. While the other teams only reached UAE after them, they have already started reaching the ICC Academy for practice. Unfortunately the different norms within the two Emirates due to a spike in Covid cases are restricting Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians and Dinesh Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders from proceeding with their plans.
BCCI is expected to resolve and also finalise the schedule for IPL 2020.
