Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to begin from September 19. IPL is known to provide an opportunity for fans to see many legendary cricketers who have retired from international cricket on the field and for many young cricketers a big platform.
This year during the 13th edition at United Arab Emirates (UAE), fans may see many legendary cricketers playing for the last time. Below are few names that may feature for the last time in the IPL cricket:
- Lasith Malinga: Even after retiring from Test and One-Day International (ODI) formats, Malinga has been a pillar for the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad. He still continues to play for the Rohit Sharma-led team. Speculations are going around stating that the 36-year-old pacer might retire from all forms of cricket after the T20 World Cup next year.
- Chris Gayle: When it comes to bowling, most of the batsmen are scared of the Gayle storm. He made his IPL debut with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2009. After which he remained a favourite for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for many seasons, before he was bought by Kings XI Punjab in 2018. As per Times Now report, the Caribbean star remains to be one of the most powerful hitters of IPL. Reports also suggest whether Gayle will continue to play in the IPL after the 2020 season is a doubt.
- Shane Watson: If you're a true cricket fan then the sight of the blooded knee, a spectacular batting show, and a long sad walk back to the pavilion will never be forgotten. That cricketer was none other than - Shane Watson. Even after his retirement from international cricket, Watson continues to be a part of the Chennai Super Kings squad.
As per reports, it will be much more thrilling to watch if Watson will make himself available for the next season of IPL.
