IPL 2020: Chennai Super Kings Might Release 4 Senior Players for Unavoidable Reasons, Says Report!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsWith Kolkata gearing up to host the auction for the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is expected to rope in some high-profile, experienced players. With that said, a report in Mykhel says that the franchise is planning to release four senior players.
First on the list is Ambati Rayudu. Though Rayudu was the star performer for CSK in the 2018 season with 602 runs from 16 matches, he did not exhibit the same in the next season (282 runs from 17 matches). His inconsistency and being not able to get back to form had cost CSK a lot.
Murali Vijay who is not a regular in the playing XI is the next player in line to be released. As Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis seldom fail to strengthen the top order for CSK, Vijay did not get many opportunities to showcase what he had. In 2019, he played only two matches and in 2018, he just got one opportunity.
Next on the list is Kedar Jadhav who scored just 162 runs off 169 deliveries in IPL 2019. He had fitness issues as well. He was bought by the franchise for a whopping 7.8 crores and he apparently did not justify his worth.
The last player on the list is Karn Sharma who was bought by the franchise for Rs. 5 Crore in 2018. Just like Murali Vijay, Karn Sharma did not get many opportunities because bowlers like Harbhajan Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Imran Tahir were performing phenomenally. Combining both the seasons (2018, 2019) Sharma got to play only seven matches.
