Chennai Super Kings batsman Suresh Raina entered the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League as the leading run scorer in the history of the IPL and he was popularly called as “Mr. IPL” for his consistent performance in the league. The man closely following Raina was none other than the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli.

As Raina got off to a slow start in the season and having missed his first ever match for CSK, Kohli quickly reduced the margin and went on to become the highest run scorer in the IPL during RCB’s match against MI last week. Coming back into the team, Raina scored a solid 47 runs and an unbeaten 57 runs against SRH to surpass Kohli and took the top spot again.

As CSK takes on RCB on Wednesday, the big battle to watch out for will be the one between Raina and Kohli and it will be interesting to see who will be on top of the scorers table by the end of the match with just nine runs separating the batsmen.

The title ‘Highest run scorer of IPL’ is likely to be juggled between Raina and Kohli throughout the season and one has to wait till the end of the league to see who will emerge as “Mr. IPL”.
