Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets at the Eden Gardens on Thursday.
Sent into bat, CSK got off to a steady start scoring 57/1 in the power-play. CSK batsman Shane Watson - 36 (25), Faf Du Plessis - 27 (15), Suresh Raina - 31 (26), and Ambati Rayudu - 21 (17) got off to a start but failed to score big. MS Dhoni holded the innings together with his unbeaten 43 runs off just 25 balls to take CSK to 177/5.
Chasing the challenging total, KKR lost crucial wickets at regular intervals initially. Young batsman Shubman Gill, who was promoted up the order scored a brilliant half-century scoring an unbeaten 57 runs off just 36 balls. Gill finished the innings along with his captain Dinesh Karthik who scored a quick 45 runs off 18 balls.
With the loss, CSK slipped to the second spot in the points table.
