Bottom-placed Delhi Daredevils defeated Chennai Super Kings by 34 runs on Friday.

 

 

Batting first, Delhi Daredevils struggled to get a good start scoring just 39 runs with the loss of a wicket. DD captain Shreyas Iyer - 19(22) and the man in form Rishabh Pant - 32(26) steadied the innings. CSK bowler Lungi Ngidi removed both Iyer and Pant in the same over when they tried to power the innings. DD all-rounders Vijay Shankar - 36*(28) and Harshal Patel - 36*(16) gave the final push to get their team to 162/5 from their 20 overs.

 

 

 

Chasing the target, CSK got off to a steady start but lost opener Shane Watson - 14 (23)soon after the power-play. Ambati Rayudu held the innings together with his 50 off just 29 balls. DD bowler kept it tight as CSK batsman struggled to score in the middle overs. Suresh Raina - 15(18) and MS Dhoni - 17 (23) got starts but failed to push on from there and lost their wickets at the crucial time. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored a quick 27 runs off just 18 balls but failed to take CSK over the line.CSK ended up scoring just 128/6 from their 20 overs.

 

 

 

CSK has already qualified for the playoffs but they are yet to secure a spot in the top two. Top two seeded team has an advantage of playing a second game if they lose the first game in the playoffs.
