After Shakib Al Hasan was banned for 2 years (including 1-year suspension) by ICC for breaching its Anti-Corruption code, his deleted WhatsApp conversations were released. Shockingly, Shakib's WhatsApp conversations are linked with an Indian bookie who goes by the name Aggarwal. The conversations also include the mention of 'IPL' which has perked up the cricket enthusiasts.

A series of WhatsApp conversations were released by ICC containing the texts from November 2017, January 2018 and April 2018. Aggarwal established his contact with Shakib in November 2017 for the first time when the latter was playing for Dhaka Dynamites team in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The ICC stated that Aggarwal (the bookie) received Shakib's contact through a mutual friend of both of them. The Hindustan Times report further adds that Aggarwal sought to meet Shakib in mid-November 2017.

Later the bookie congratulated Shakib for his man of the match on 19 January 2018 and sent a text "do we work in this or I wait till the IPL". Reportedly, the word 'work' is said to be asking for inside information.

The successive WhatsApp messages of Aggarwal contained messages such as "Bro anything in this series?", asking for Shakib's dollar account details and continuous probing of inside information.

The ICC said that Shakib did not report this to the Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) which eventually turns him to be guilty. It was also reported that Shakib did not provide any inside information or received any rewards.
