Dhawan, despite being injured, scored a ton, 117 and was named the man of the match. Kohli scored 82 and Rohit gave a steady start scoring 52. Dhoni, Pandya and Rahul utilized all the balls to score as many runs as possible making the feet of 352 for a total achievable.

Australian bowlers avoided as many extras as possible and Stoinis took two wickets. Though Smith, Warner and Carey, 69, 56 and 55, respectively, helped Australia as much as they can by crossing 300, they couldn't help as the wickets fell one after the another. Both Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah took 3 wickets each.
