ICC Releases New Test Rankings; VIRAT KOHLI gets a ‘Competitor’, Surprise Entries and More
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the Test rankings for 2019 on August 19 (Monday) and Australian batsman Steve Smith moved up to second position beating New Zealand’s Kane Willamson. Smith is just 9 points away to equal Indian skipper Virat Kohli who remains at the top spot.
Virat Kohli has grabbed the No:1 position with 922 points while Steve Smith secures the second position with 913 points. Smith’s smashing double hundreds in Ashes in Birmingham and 92 at Lord’s made him climb up the ladder in the Test Rankings.
While India’s Chateshwar Pujara remains put at his fourth position, Srilanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne surprised the rankings by entering in to the 10. He jumped 4 places forward and grabbed the No:8th place. There are also two other Indian players making it to the Top 10 in the bowlers list. Ravindra Jadeja moved up to 5th position from 6 and Ravichandran Ashwin remained unaltered at No: 10.
In the All-rounders list, Jason Holder from West Indies topped at No:1 followed by Shakib Al Hassan and Ravindra Jadeja in the second and third positions respectively. India are on the top of the table in Test Rankings with 113 points followed by New Zealand (111 points) and South Africa (108 Points). India’s is set to play the first Test against the West Indies on August 22 and India could come down from the No:1 spot even if they lose the series by 1-0 margin.
