Legendary Cricketer and Popular Commentator Dean Jones Dies of Heart Attack
Home > News Shots > Sports newsFormer Australian cricketer Dean Jones passed away in Mumbai today following a cardiac arrest. The former cricketer-turned-commentator is currently in Mumbai as he was part of Star Sports’ team for the ongoing IPL 2020 in UAE.
Jones died at noon on September 24 in a hotel where he was staying. He was 59 years old and was in India for the job of presenting programmes on IPL 2020 tournament.
Dean Jones, is one of the most active cricketers on social media and interacts with the fans on a regular basis. He has played 52 Tests and scored 3631 runs including 11 centuries, and featured in 164 one-dayers, racking up 6063 runs, seven centuries and 46 fifties.
Dean Jones was so passionate about the game of cricket and one of the great ambassadors of the game. He nurtured young talents and took the game to many corners of the world, especially in India, the place he loved so much and enjoyed being with the people.
"It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing away of Mr. Dean Mervyn Jones AM. He died of a sudden cardiac arrest. We express our deep condolences to his family and stand ready to support them in this difficult time. We are in touch with the Australian High Commission to make the necessary arrangements," Star India said in a statement.

Jones is understood to have suffered a sudden heart attack while working in Mumbai as a commentator on the IPL.
