The Delhi Capitals had won the toss and elected to field first since Iyer admitted that it was a wrong decision to bat first against CSK.

First Super over of IPL 2019!!! Russell's Monster effort not enough!!!

The Delhi capitals had a brilliant start with the ball getting the Knight riders down to 61/5 in 9.1 overs. Once Andre Russell joined Dinesh Karhik, it started to look like a completely different pitch with both Dinesh Karthik and Andre Russell looking very comfortable against the Delhi bowling attack. During the 14th over, there was a possible injury scare with Harshal Patel bowling a beamer to Russell that hit him on his shoulder. In spite of the pain, his hitting ability did not seem to diminish and went on to play yet another monstrous innings of 62 from just 28 deliveries including 6 massive sixes. Captain Dinesh Karthik on the other hand played an excellent supporting hand getting 50 from 36 balls. Chawla and Kuldeep went for some big shots in the end and took the Knight Riders to a respectable total of 185 in the 20 overs.

In return, the Delhi openers came out all guns blazing, but Dhawan didn’t last too long getting out in the 3rd over.  But Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas combined for a 89 runs partnership which kept the Delhi Capitals. Shreyas Iyer fell for 43, but Shaw kept going on and played a brilliant where he looked really good playing his shots and was in no trouble what so ever. There was a twist when Kuldeep got Rishabh Pant in the 18th over and Shaw fell in the following over for 99 off 55 balls. It went to the last over with 6 needed of the last over. Vihari tried to for the big shot when it was 2 to win of 2 balls and got out, which led to Kuldeep Yadav restricting Delhi capitals and it went to a Super Over.
Rishabh Pant and Iyer came out to bat for the Delhi Capitals in the super over and Prashid Krishna took the ball for the Knight Riders. Iyer hit a boundary of the second ball and got out which brought shaw to the crease and they ended with 10 of the over.
For the Knight Riders, as expected, Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik came out to bat and Rabada took charge of the bowling duties. Russell started off with a boundary but Rabada came back brilliantly from there on to get him out in the 3rd ball and not give anything away after than which managed to get the Delhi Capitals home.

The Knight Riders would look at the change they made bringing in Nikhil Naik instead of someone like Denly or Brathwaite who could have also provided the extra bowling option. The top order batting collapse is also something they would look to address.
