Virat Kohli is like a Warrior says Chahal !!!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsFrom 2014 to now, Yuzvendra Chahal has seen tremendous growth in his career. The talented right-hand leg spinner first came into limelight in the IPL after he made the move from the Mumbai Indians to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2014.
He has managed to pick up a lot of wickets for RCB, playing at the Chinnaswamy stadium which is one of the toughest places to bowl. Following his good performances, he got a call up to the Indian limited-overs team in 2016 and has become a vital cog in the team since.
The demand for leg spinners has been going up and Chahal's growth has been huge in terms of providing breakthroughs through the middle overs in limited overs cricket which was supposed to be a stagnant stage of the game. Chahal has picked up 33 wickets from overs 15-40 since 2017 which is one of the best.
The quality that makes Chahal stand out is the fact that he is not scared of flighting the ball to the batsman and is ready to bowl at any stage of the game, including the Powerplays.
Daniel Vettori, RCB's coach said that Virat Kohli as captain has really helped in molding Chahal as an aggressive bowler and Chahal has also acknowledged Kohli's contribution saying “I always enjoy bowling under Virat bhai, “Even if I’m hit for six, he tells me not to care about it and attack". H has also added saying that Virat Kohli is aggressive and is like a warrior who encourages Chahal to keep attacking.
At times, he is a bowler who can go for a lot of runs and run out of options when the batsman starts to go after him. One of his go-to bowling plans is to bowl wide of the stumps when the batsman is going for a big shot and will be looking at adding more options to bowl in the pressure situations in this year's IPL.
Chahal has started this year's IPL very well with figures of 1/6 against CSK and 4/38 against the Mumbai Indians and will hope to continue this form leading into the world cup where he will have a big role to play.
