The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recommended Virat Kohli for the Khel Ratna Award, Sunil Gavaskar for the Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports and Rahul Dravid for the Dhronacharya Award.

Kohli was already nominated for the Khel Ratna Award in 2016, but the award went to Olympic winners PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Dipa Karmakar. Reportedly, if Kohli wins the Khel Ratna Award, he will become the third Indian cricketer to win after Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni.

Dravid was nominated by the BCCI for successfully guiding the India U-19 team to victory this year.
