BCCI Announces Squad For India's Tour Of Australia; Rohit Sharma OUT, KKR Bowler Makes Entry: Twitter Reacts!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced Test, ODI, and T20I squads for India’s tour of Australia.
The names were selected after the All-India Senior Selection Committee met via video-conference earlier today.
As per an Indian Express report, India will be touring Australia in a bio-secure bubble in November where they will take part in four Test matches, three ODIs and three T20Is after the ongoing IPL 2020 tournament.
In the list, India's vice-captain Rohit Sharma, has not been picked in any of the three squads. He is currently struggling with a hamstring injury to which the BCCI officials said that their medical team will continue to monitor his progress.
Meanwhile, another notable member is also missing from the Test squad, Ishant Sharma. He has been ruled out of the IPL with a rib injury to which the BCCI's medical team will also keep track of his progress.
Among the lot, KL Rahul, has replaced Rohit in the longest format. He has also been handed the leadership responsibility for the first time in his international career, as vice-captain role for the ODI and T20I series.
Currently, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fast-bowling duo Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj have been rewarded for their impressive performances with a place in the red-ball squad.
Even Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) spinner Varun Chakravarthy, has been named in the shortest format. He won hearts after becoming the first bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul in the IPL 2020. Rishabh Pant is not part of the T20I squad, but Sanju Samson is included as a backup keeper.
Here is the complete list of Test squad: Virat Kohli (capt), Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar, Ajinkya (vice-capt), Hanuma Vihari, Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Rishabh Pant (wk), Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj.
