According to reports, 11-year-old Nathania John K from Niligiris is to be a ball carrier in FIFA 2018. Nathania will escort the Neymar-led Brazil team to the grounds against Costa Rica on Friday.

 

Nathania had earlier participated in a competition held by KIA - the sponsor of FIFA 2018 and was the lone winner. Nathania, an aspiring footballer was at ease when she was tested her football skills in the competition. She reportedly said, "I am still in a daze. It is very unusual for an Indian to participate in the World Cup.”

 

This is the first time in years that India is getting represented in the FIFA World Cup. The last time was in 2002 when Sankar, a referee had assisted in three matches. Along with Nathania, Rishi Tej from Karnataka was also chosen in the competition. Tej was the ball carrier for the match between Belgium and Panama on Monday.
