IPL's most valued player ruled out of World Cup for this reason!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsWest Indies all-rounder and IPL's MVP Andre Russell has been ruled out of 2019 ICC World Cup due to his persistent knee problems. Sunil Ambris has been named as the replacement in the West Indies team, reports Cricbuzz.
Russell, who struggled with the injury throughout the tournament, managed to play only four games. After an amazing bowling performance in the first match against Pakistan, he failed to make an impact with either bat or ball.
He scored 36 runs in three innings and bagged five wickets in four games. His knee problem was widely spoken about in his team. A powerful player like him is an asset. His absence is a major minus for both the West Indies team and his career.
Ambris, who made his ODI debut in September 2017 - against England - has played only six ODIs. However, last month, he cracked his career-best score of 148 in the Ireland tri-series. The team is yet to play three matches.
