Indian middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu, who has scored 1694 runs in 55 ODIs for India, with three centuries and ten half-centuries to his name has decided to retire from all forms of cricket, a BCCI official has revealed.

After Being Ignored For World Cup, Star Cricketer Announces Retirement: Team India SHOCKED!

According to Hindustan Times report, Rayudu, who was in the running for a place in India’s ICC World Cup squad, was ignored at the last moment as all-rounder Vijay Shankar was chosen ahead of him.

Even after that, India has since made two changes to their squad after injuries to Shikhar Dhawan and Shankar, and have called in Rishabh Pant and opener Mayank Agarwal into the squad. Hence, Rayudu, despite being in the race initially, has now been overlooked thrice for the showpiece event, Hindustan Times further reported.

The 33-year-old Andhra batsman is yet to make a formal announcement but a Board official told PTI that he has communicated his decision to the BCCI. "He has told the Board," the official said.

Looking back at his laurels, Rayudu played 55 ODIs for India, scoring 1694 runs at an average of 47.05. The player, who could never break into the Test team, was in the spotlight before the World Cup.
