In an inspiring incident, a traffic head constable used his training in emergency medical assistance on Sunday, saving the life of a biker who met with an accident at Egmore.

The 44-year-old head constable from Egmore traffic enforcement wing, S Shivakumaran, was manning the Pantheon Road stretch when he witnessed the biker being thrown off his bike at around 9:00 am.

The biker fell almost 20 metres away, his head striking the road. When people saw him lay unconscious, they rushed to the spot with some calling the ambulance service.

The head constable performed CPR on the victim as the crowd cheered him and revived the biker. The victim, a 35-year-old man, was later taken to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital after the ambulance arrived for further treatment.
