Home > News Shots > Inspiring newsIn an inspiring event, a Lithuanian couple won the World Wife-Carrying Championships title for the second time after competing in an obstacle race. This event was organised in the Finnish town of Sonkajarvi on July 6.
This race is a contest where men along with their wives take part in an obstacle course. During the race, the wives are slung onto their husband's shoulders.
As per Asia One report, there were atleast two dozen couples contesting for the title. But, Vytautas Kirkliauskas and his wife Neringa Kirkliauskiene won the competition for the second time in a row by completing a 253.5 meter obstacle course featuring a water trap in 1 minute and 6 seconds.
After crossing all obstacles, this Lithuanian couple bagged the first prize by consisting of the wife's weight in beer. This Lithuanian couple won over six-time champion Taisto Miettinen of Finland and his wife Katja Kovanen by a small margin of 0.1 seconds, Asia One report further added.
After winning the competition, while speaking to reporters Kirkliauskas said "I was looking at the watch and I thought I'm not going to make it, but we did it."
