The respective Ministers and Deputy Ministers then responded to questions raised by members of the Lok Sabha.
Freeze 320 processors
Speaking during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Prakash said the Center has so far blocked 320 applications for national security reasons.
He said, "For the sake of national security, the federal government has so far disabled 320 mobile phone processors under the Information Technology Act.
Freeze again
The minister said that the processors were disabled due to the security of the country, sovereignty and the security of the state of unity, adding that the already disabled processors were found to be operating under different names and were disabled again. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that a total of 49 applications were reactivated last February.
Law
The minister said the move was taken by the federal government to ensure the security and reliability of mobile phone users, adding that 320 processors have been disabled under Rule 69A of the Information Technology Act 2000.
