Police have arrested a young man who allegedly swindled money from more than 100 women to get married.
Farhan Khan is from Orissa. He has passed only 12th class and has registered his profile in a matrimonial based on fake information. In it, Farhan mentions that after graduating with an engineering degree, he studied management and is now self-employed. He mentions that his mother and father are dead and that he wants to have a loved one as his life partner.
Police say Farhan used to look at Farhan's profile, get millions of dollars from the women who contacted him, and then walk away from them. In this case, a doctor recently working at a federal government hospital looked at Farhan's profile and contacted him.
Farhan has told him that he has lost his job and if he pays 15 lakh rupees, he will fix it and we can get married immediately after that. The doctor who believed this also paid the money, and in the next few days Farhan went into hiding.
The shocked doctor lodged a complaint with the Delhi Cyber Crime Branch on March 26. This was followed by the formation of a team led by DCP Zenita Marie to expedite the search for the culprit. Farhan has been arrested by police.
Police said items including a luxury car and several phones were seized from him. According to police, Farhan has cheated on more than 100 women in Bala, including West Bengal, Rajasthan, Odisha and Karnataka.
The police have made a young man who have been involved in money laundering for more than 100 women claiming to be married.
